Editorial Policy
How we decide what to publish, how we check it, and what we will not do.
Independence
HumanCloning.org is an independent educational publication. The editorial team operates without direction from any laboratory, foundation, advocacy organisation, government, fertility clinic, or commercial sponsor. We do not accept editorial input from advertisers, and we do not run sponsored articles disguised as editorial.
Accuracy
Factual claims in our articles are checked against widely accepted sources, including:
- U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH) and National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI)
- U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) where relevant
- World Health Organization (WHO)
- UNESCO instruments and reports
- U.S. National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine
- National bioethics committees in the relevant jurisdictions
- Peer-reviewed literature in biology, bioethics, and policy
Where reasonable experts disagree, we represent the disagreement rather than concealing it. Where scientific or legal questions are unsettled, we say so explicitly.
What we will not publish
- Step-by-step cloning protocols or laboratory methods.
- Embryo-manipulation instructions.
- Procurement or sourcing guidance for biological material.
- Content that could function as a how-to for circumventing applicable laws or safety regulations.
- Medical, clinical, or legal advice.
- Fabricated quotations or fabricated expert credentials.
- Content promoting eugenics, genetic superiority, or discriminatory ideas about human worth.
- Advertisements or referrals for fertility, genetic-preservation, or cloning services.
Use of sources
We try to link to primary sources where possible and to widely respected secondary sources where primary sources are technical or paywalled. We do not republish copyrighted text without permission, and we paraphrase rather than copy.
Corrections
If a published article contains a factual error, we update the article and note the correction. Readers can submit corrections through our contact page. Corrections that affect the substance of an article are flagged in the article itself.
Conflicts of interest
Members of the editorial team do not accept payment, free services, or other forms of compensation from organisations whose work is the subject of our coverage. We do not run paid placements, sponsored articles, or affiliate promotions of fertility, genetic, or biotechnology services.
Tone and balance
We aim for a serious, calm, evidence-based tone. We do not present cloning as inherently good or inherently evil. We try to give the strongest version of each ethical position a fair hearing, and we say so explicitly when we are imposing a hard editorial limit, as on eugenic framings.
Updates
Major evergreen explainers carry an “Updated” year so readers can see when the article was last reviewed. We periodically revisit articles to check that the science and legal context they describe still hold.
